Tell me which image looks better…this one or the previous one…?

I think I like #2 better – there are elements of both that I like and they are quite different

I think so too.

I like the first one better. I think it’s that hint of mystery it holds and those gorgeous luminous wings 🙂 Just my 2 cents 😛

Somehow, I’m glad you like the first one better. It reinforces my own reasons for putting up that one first! 🙂

The latter one for me. I love the greens coming through – a whole range of them. Well done.

Such a beautiful photo, Munira! I think it’s great how images can be tweaked. I prefer #2 because my eyes get lost with the first one. In the first there are only the leaves lower right, the dragonfly, and the unidentified bright light above center — then it’s just darkness. My eyes seemed to think the dragonfly wasn’t the focus, and kept skittering over the image.
For #1, cropping out the bright light and having the dragonfly off center to the left, while keeping as much of the leaves as possible, would address that and make it my first choice instead.
I love looking at dragonflies! I found a lovely photo of one on the web for my post called “Dragonfly” from last August 2010.

Love your insightful comment Re! Wish I could have this much clarity 🙂
Was playing around with settings on my camera late at night, and both pics are untweaked…..i think the bigger challenge was to get as close to the dragonfly as possible without it flying away!

Oh yes, that would be the bigger challenge! 🙂 I hope you’ll forgive my thinking they were the same photo with different effects. I’m not as good a photographer as you, but I like to make copies of certain photos in my computer photo files, see what I can do with the the copy, and then see how they both look side by side.
I’m glad you caught the beauty of your tiny visitor before she flew away!

Playing around with pictures is always a lot of fun, I do a lot of tweaking too 🙂
